From the timeline above, you can see our history is divided into three key parts: the fight for independence, the battle against autocracy, and the ongoing effort to overcome international isolation.

Our current situation mirrors Africa's past battles against colonial rule. However, our challenges now are more complex. We're not only dealing with the sovereignty issues of colonisation but also with sanctions imposed passively by every nation. All of this is happening while we're grappling with climate change in one of the most vulnerable parts of the world and dealing with the aftermath of past struggles.

Just like the impacts of colonisation are embedded in African memory, our current struggle has its heroes, visionaries, and few appeasers to adversaries. The entire experience is a reminder of the colonisation period.

Even though we're facing immense challenges, we gain strength from our past. We managed to escape from autocracy in the 80s and before that became one of the first African nations to gain independence.

We promise to keep going until the very end. We're committed to seeing this through.

To everyone around the world, we ask for your understanding. Even if your governments are part of the reason for our isolation, please realise that our fight isn't just about usโ€”it represents the relentless human spirit. Our struggle shows the determination to never give up on human ideas, identities, or dreams.
